The Matrix: Path of Neo is definitely looking impressive, and has some fantastic ideas (such as the game deciding the difficulty based on the performance of your first level).

The left trigger button will let you enter “focus mode,” so you can aim at specific targets while holding a gun, and it will also slow time (so that you can dodge bullets as they fly past you, leaving the ripple marks in midair we’ve seen in the motion pictures.) The right trigger will fire any equipped guns. Path of Neo’s control layout seemed intuitive enough for a console game like with most console first or third-person shooter games, the left analog stick will let you move Neo, while the right stick will move the camera view around him.

Not only will Neo be a master of seven different fighting arts (learned and enhanced through the brainjack training programs that where only hinted at in the films), but he’ll also be able to view the world in code vision, slow down the enemies and objects around him, and eventually even fly. However, as you progress forward through the trilogy you will be able to do all of what Neo can. Merely being able to play as Neo of course isn’t enough. Not only can you now play as Neo, but you‘ll be able to re-live the Matrix trilogy. For Matrix fans such as myself, I think that this alone is enough to warrant a purchase (unless the gameplay is completely broken, and lets pray that its not). Atari and Shiny Entertainment are looking to change this however with a November release of The Matrix: The Path of Neo. Most all videogames and sequels based off of the original Matrix movie have been mediocre, and at best just good.
